Students, volunteers and interns … work on the Belize Wildlife Corridor Initiative!
Date posted: August 2009; updated April 2010 Description: Opportunities for students to study Belizean mammals for Bachelors or Masters thesis. Volunteers and interns also welcome. Field work includes camera trapping, sign-surveys and radio-tracking. There are also opportunities for interview-based socio-economic research. Fieldwork costs are covered by the project but there are currently no funds available for international travel, or in-country subsistence & accommodation. Accommodation is available in the study area at discounted rates. Qualifications and experience: Applicants should be studying or have studied Natural Resource Management, Wildlife Management, Biology, Zoology or related subject. Candidates should have a genuine interest in Belizean wildlife, be prepared to work unsocial hours in the bush and willing to handle live wild animals. Previous research studying Belizean mammals is a bonus, but not essential. A minimum commitment of two months is required. Only serious applicants considered.
