Coordinator (Belize) for project on “Building research capacity for the prevention and mitigation of natural disasters in Central America” through the Superior Council of Central American Universities (CSUCA) and the Swedish International Development agency (SIDA), 2008-2010

University of Belize Representative on the National Protected Areas Commission (NPAC), Belize since 2007

President of the Belize Chapter of the Mesoamerican Society for Biology and Conservation (MSBC) since 2007; currently leading effort to host first ever regional MSBC Congress in Belize in October, 2009 and recently elected as part of the MSBC regional executive council

Coordinator of various initiatives at the University of Belize, including field training and workshops to build capacity among undergraduate students in Biology and Natural Resources Management; areas of focus include plant collection and identification techniques and bird banding
